Set high above the Amalfi Coast at Villa Cimbrone, Karson and Joshua’s wedding remains one of the most unforgettable celebrations we have ever photographed.

It was breathtakingly beautiful, but that isn’t why we still talk about it. It was them!

Their faith. Their families. The way they loved their friends. The tears, the ridiculous amounts of laughter, the joy that seemed to follow them everywhere.

Before the ceremony, Karson gathered her bridesmaids and members of our team and washed their feet as rooted in her Christian faith, and one of love, humility and service.

Incredibly powerful. There were tears. Including ours.

That feeling carried through the entire celebration. Heartfelt vows, people holding one another, enormous laughter, dancing, faith, friendship and the kind of joy you simply cannot manufacture for a photograph.

Of course, Villa Cimbrone gave us one of the most spectacular backdrops imaginable.

But years later, that isn't what we remember first.

We remember how it felt to be there.

Karson and Joshua's wedding will probably always be an Atelier favourite because it reminds us of something we have come to understand more and more after two decades of weddings:

The most extraordinary celebrations aren't extraordinary because of where they happen.

They're extraordinary because of the people inside them.
